Question ........ I'm using( appropriate street heat range ) Autolite race plugs in my BB 10.3cr Brodix alum head motor for street use with pump gas ........ been suggested to me that I should not be using this type of plug with pump gas, only with race fuel ???? I will be driving car on the street for next few weeks while I check everything out now that car finally completed .then off to the track ...... any reason I should go to the stock type plug for the pump gas street use like the Champion 12 y's ....... the Autolites seem to work fine no detonation etcetc........ anything to this pump gas / race fuel plug type suggestion ??

Hi Bill.
I have honestly seen no gains from using the "race" plug in a lower compression engine.
I am also not "brand dependent", I use Autolite & Champion & on occasion NGK "street plugs" interchangeably again with no discernable difference.
If the heat range is correct just don't tell your engine you are not using a race plug, it will never know the difference,,
Biggest difference you will notice is in your wallet in my opinion :D

Thanks for reply Mike .... I had regular NGK plugs in it for the dyno sessions ... switched to the Autolites cause they worked best against detonation/ knock retard in my supercharged GTP .... time for fresh set in the Chevelle while waiting for my carb to come back from "Patrick"

Hey Gerry ....Iam the worst person for taking picures .....I suppose i should take a bunch and post an update it only took 4 yrs and with alot of help from here .especially before I start to use it alot and the inevitable chips etc happen ...... I have some pics from about 69 when I first owned the car taken in a local park maybe should go back there and take some ..... will get on it ..... here is a link to the showroom at he Niagra show .mine is the one in the foreground ........the one next to mine belongs to Randy Kirker from NY a concours Grand National winner awesome car he's owned since new I met him 3 years ago and he was graciuous enough to share the paint formula for our Aztec Bronze twins ....his car is the benchmark for correct color in BCCC Aztec Bronze

Have only had it out in public twice .took it to the CAN AM show in Niagra falls / Buffalo in july and just this week on Wed nite to a local thing ........ just taking for some shake down drives:) at nites these days
