WOW.. I was just quoted a price for R&M paint to paint my car. A gallon and a half will cost 570.00 and that is body-shop price... I almost fell off my chair... Is that the going price or is there another color less expensive I can substitute? I appreciate any suggestions!

i used sikkens autobase to paint my car and it was about $86 per quart 1 1/2 gallons of paint is alot of paint i dont think you need that much i used tinted primer and only needed 2 quarts to cover my 70 convertible plus a pint for any stripes you will also need reducer, if your going with 2 stage paint you'll need clear. the clear is also very expensive which also requires the activater and the hardner then tape, paper ect..... it becomes expensive could run well over 1000 bucks for the supplies alone.

Helped a guy with his '39. He spent $1200 just on materials BC/CC Dark Chestnut. Red is the MOST expensive 'standard' color.

Thats a little higher than I paid for for my Cranberry red, but I used PPG. Most Reds are always more expensive than other colors.

I can understand that.. But almost $100 a quart.. I think that is incredible. Do you think that 6 qts is overkill to paint the entire car. Keep in mind this is a convertible.

THanks for all the help!
