Hi everyone, I am new to the forum, but I have been the proud owner of a 1970 Malibu for about 8 years now. I was wondering if any of you folks might be able to help me with a question I have been trying to answer for quite some time. When my Chevelle was restored the old fenders were beyond repair and were replaced with fiberglass fenders that did not have the predrilled holes for my Malibu and 307 emblems. I have looked everywhere I can think of to try and find their original location and a method for installing them (where to measure from and such). I have searched all over the internet and even on this site, but the only answer that gave me any direction at all was one I found in a posting here which was to look in an original factory assembly manual. I tried to look for this assembly manual online, but I have come up empty handed. Any imput on this suject is greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot,
Dave from Vermont

You don't happen to have your old fenders do you? You could cut out the sections and use it for a template.

I wish I still had the original fenders, but my father and my uncle did the body restoration about 10 years ago and the fenders are long gone. Aparently they never thought to make a note of where the emblems were supposed to go. I can't complain too loud though, my parents gave me the chevelle as a high school graduation present, and all I had to do was rebuild the engine. Thanks a lot for the suggestion though.

My 70 convertible still has the original fenders on it with the holes in them for the MALIBU and 350 emblems.

My original fenders still have the 350 emblem on them, but the Malibu emblems were recently removed.
For reference, here is a picture taken on the day we purchased the car in 1970.

A couple of measurements from my emblem locations:
I measured from the fender ridge, which goes the entire length of the car on the upper fender.
From the fender ridge down to the top of the emblem: 5.75" to 6"
From the front edge of the fender section (not the headlight extension) to the front of the emblem: 3.75"
The Malibu emblem should be on level with the engine emblem, about 7" down from the same ridge.

Where are you located? I let you come over and measure off of mine.
