: Grill Rivet Replacement Bolts
rocks66ss Aug 15th, 06, 5:03 PM Can any one tell me what the proper name is for the 10-24 x 3/8 bolts that are being sold for, as grill rivet replacements?
I see them on ebay all the time, it looks like a little carraige bolt with no square shoulder, has a head thats about 3/8 dia, uses a keps nut.
steelworker198 Aug 15th, 06, 8:04 PM theres a place in pa. its called luttys chevrolet parts who also carry these rivets you are speaking of, I use the for installing my tcs switch to firewall gutter, exact size, try [http://www.luttyschevy.com/pages/home.html# if thats not it try the search engine for luttys, mike
rocks66ss Aug 15th, 06, 8:54 PM Finding them is not a problem, they are all over ebay. I need to know what the proper name for them is. I'm the buyer for an elevator company in Kansas City and I purchase hardware by the boatload. If I knew what they were called I would probably buy a Thousand of the little buggers, because I think 15 or 25 for $10.00 is a little outrageous. This Florida auto fasteners who has a zillion different sales for these things on ebay, has to be bending folks over pretty bad at that price.

Ark68SS Aug 15th, 06, 9:57 PM An old (1976 ed) Machinery's Handbook I have shows a "Round Head Bolt" spec that looks like it, ANSI B18.5-1971; the spec also has the "Round Head, Square Neck Bolt" that looks like what we call a carriage bolt. It's a #10 x 24 with a .450" diameter head that's .104" tall. Check with one of your suppliers & see if he knows what I'm talking about. Hope that helped.

rpol7966 Aug 17th, 06, 10:12 AM The "rivet" bolts are used to bolt lockers together. Search the net for a locker company and I'm sure you can access a supplier. If you can buy a large quantity form one of you suppliers, I'd be interested in sharing a quantity.
Mr69 Aug 17th, 06, 8:59 PM How do you keep the head of the bolt from turning while you are tightening the nut????????????:clonk:

grays67 Aug 19th, 06, 12:52 PM I purchased my grill rivot bolts for my 67 through Florida Fasteners via ebay. Since then, I discovered a company in Windber, PA , called Restoration Specialties and Supply, Inc (www.restorationspecialties.com) (814) 467-9842 has them. I believe they are stainless steel and are part number 1120, (.55 cents each or $44/100) they come with nut and lockwasher, 10/32 thread.
