I have a new rear pad that has been sitting around for awhile and has begun to discolor a bit where the white portions (SS and outside edgeline)appear. I will be affixing within a few weeks and wonder if anyone has a tip for bringing the whiteness back (besides Aquafresh)?

Also, I don't not have the "special" glue that comes with this pad from most suppliers. Can this glue be ordered without the bumper or is there an adhesive on the market that is also proven and withstands the years of wear? Thanks.

I don't have an answer for the white issue, but I've been told by a '70 owner that when he bought the part and bumper, the vendor told him to call when he was ready to install. He would then ship the glue. Seems it has a very short shelf life. We didn't ask how the vendor stores it?????? So if you call Ground Up or who ever, they can probably get you some of the 'real' glue.

Try a mild abbrasive on the white part, such as the comet gel or kitchen top cleaner. The glue does indeed have a very short shelf life and needs to be ordered when your ready to install said pad. However, I have seen numerous times people use the 3M super weather adhesive and its held for years and no problems. They offer black and yellow, try balck as if it squishes out a little you wont see it.

Also, make sure to scuff the bumper with some sandpaper and apply the pad from the middle portion first and then work your way outwards. 3M Super waether adhesive will do the trick though.
