Looking for pictures or drawings showing how bucket seats are mounted in 67. I have searched the archives here with no luck.

I have pulled the seats out of my car to do some other interior work and have discovered that they were only fastened down at three points! In the front, for both seat track rails there are studs that stick up from the floor pan and look like a factory installation. In the rear there are only tapped bolt holes for the outside seat track. There are no holes or does it look like there were holes to fasten the inside track rail to the floor pan. I thought that this might have been a bench seat car but the cowl tag says this was a bucket seat car. Also the bucket seats I have match the description for a 67 bucket seat, Has the emblem in the middle of the seat back and the release to move the seat back forward so you can get in the back seat is on the outboard side and towards the top.

I have looked at the Body By Fisher Service Manual and the drawings don't help much. None of them match what I see. Looking in the Ground Up Catalog, I see something called bucket seat mounting bracket. I have nothing like this and don't see how it would fit in my car.

Can anyone shed some light for me? Thanks in advance.

You need to buy the more expensive 4 piece bucket seat brackets ( about 45 bucks) they are identical to the original brackets supplied by GM.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry for not getting back sooner. Got called out of town last week and just got back.

A few questions about the picture:
Is this the passenger side looking from the back?
I see studs sticking up in three of the four locations. Is there a tapped hole in the right back location? If not, what is the fastener at this location?
Is there any standard for whether a particular location has a stud or a hole?

Thanks again.

this is the passenger side taken from behind the seat as you indicated, the rear right stud is found on ALL chevelles in this location, as well as the driver side; actually two of them if equipped with a bench seat; for buckets you want to utilize the outward nut pressed into the brace. If I'm not mistaken I believe a bolt is used from the top down in a factory setup, but I figured it is easier to thread up a bolt from the bottom and use a nut to secure the seat. The brackets come as shown. Use your seat guides, and the factory location for the rear outward bolt to measure for placement of the braces. Whatever you do, DO NOT bolt down the brackets. Beg borrow or steal or pay someone to weld the braces in if you don't weld. In a collision if the braces are bolted down (even with washers) your seats will peel up from the floorboard. Sorry the factory bolt provision doesn't show up so good in the picture, New floor pans. If I can be of further assistance please don't hesitate to ask. JN

Good post. I know a few of mine, on my 66, the stud itself is rusted out.

Thanks all for the help!! I think I have it figured out now.

Will post a picture tomorrow, but from looking at these pictures and the floor pan of my vehicle, it appears that the mounting brackets were installed with the inboard and outboard pieces switched. That is, the long piece is on the outside with the rear cut off and the short piece is on the inside. That was what was confusing me. Will have to cut out what is there and weld new ones in. Also the slide brackets on the seat are not the right length either based on an extension plate I have for the seat.

Ah the joys of a 40 year old car!!

Thanks again everyone. Once again the Chevelles.com team comes through!:beers:
