A buddy of mine has been looking for a classic car for a couple of years now. He and I have looked at 1st gen. Camaro's, Firebirds, Chevelle's, etc. He used to have a 1st gen. Camaro and really liked it, but it seemed that every time we looked at a Chevelle, he had a little different sparkle in his eye. We all understand that right ?. Last weekend we looked at a 67 Firebird 4 spd car and Tom almost made the guy an offer, but something just didn't feel right.
I know now what it was that didn't feel right to him. It wasn't a Chevelle ! This was on Sunday of last week. I told Tom that the right car will come along, but we will need to be on top of it, becaue the nice ones go fast. Well, Monday, I get an email saying; "I found, just advertised locally, a 69 Chevelle I want to go look at and without sounding too presumptuous, I am picking you up at 5:30pm Wednesday, so be ready". So, Wednesday evening comes and we go. The first sign was good, nice, well kept house, three car garage with the center bay open and a shiny 69 Chevelle sitting there. It didn't take long to see the guy took very good care of the car and was proud to pop the hood and trunk for us. After looking it over pretty good and paying special attention to the classic areas of potential problems, it was clear that this car was totally rust free. Tom drives it, then I drive it. It has a non-matching, but 69 date coded 396 and a Turbo 400. Tom and I talk in private for a bit and then makes the gentleman an offer to buy it. Well, Friday evening Tom's first Chevelle comes home and he is grinning like a Cheshire Cat ever since. Now he's excited about finding the misc. trim and interior pieces to finish it off and talking about joing Team Chevelle :D Here are a couple of pics taken yesterday of Tom's Orange Crush. I'm sure we will be hearing from Tom soon. Congratulations Tom  Garry
