Im looking for tips on how to start the tuning process properly. Im thinking
1.Get the car somewhat close on jetting and start with 28 degrees total timing {obviously low} and go up 2 degrees at a time until i reach top MPH.
2. Rejet 2 sizes at a time front and back for top MPH
3. Select proper plug heat range based on strap color

This fall i want to see 11.50's with good air. Based on my current "untuned" MPH of 115.5 i know i can get it with some driving skills. Once i get my motor tuned properly im going to step up to some caltracs and split monos for next summer and look to make consistant/improve on my 60 foot. The best ive hit is a 1.67 with my crap mangled slapper bars and spinning so i know theres ET left there. My only other ideas are to come off at a higher RPM. Ive been leaving at 3,500 RPM wich is no where near my peak TQ. Im sure i make that at around 5,000 so i think upping my launch to 4,500 RPM would improve things quite a bit. My last idea is to swap my 12 lb hays aluminum flywheel for a 30 lb steel one. So any other ideas or tips for the track. Hopefully im done breaking stuff, frying clutches, burning plug wires and breaking rear ends!!!! 1 good day out there would just float my boat. Any tips will help. Heres a refresher of my combo if it matters...

Motor
-11.1:1 compression 350
-Brodix RR200 heads CNC chambers and 2.055/1.6 valves
-296/302, 258/264@.050 .562/.562 lift 108l/s installed straight up.
-Team G intake
-750 Mighty demon
-1 7/8" x 3 1/2" super comps

Tranny
-Richmond 5 speed
-Long H-pattern shifter
-3000lb clutch
-Aluminum hays flywheel

Rear End
-9" ford
-3.89 gears {works like 4.86 gears with the tranny gearing though}
-detroit locker
-moser axles

Car
-73' Nova
-3260 lb street weight w/o me 3500 with me

Thanks in advance... This is posted over at Team Camaro also

I might start timing at 34* to save a little time and change jets in 3 size incrementals to speed up the process also, need to make more than one pass at each setting with proper cool down to get accurate data. Traction should be number one priority or none of the other data will be accurate, if its not deadhooking, you're just spinning your wheels :D literally.

Way to throw a pun in there Bob.....Well because of $$ constraints traction has to wait till next year.

Had to throw that in there ;) for that reason I have no accurate data on my head swap, car wasnt hooking yet, so not sure exactly how much difference there was Brodix RR vs. 781's.

Thats going to be a fun ride to tune! I'm just going from my experience and its a slower process where i did one thing throughout the day and maybe even a second race to feel out the new tuning.

Tune her for mile per hour with the jets and timing i just messed wiht that one day.

Have you read any holley carb tuning books? Theres more to a carb than rejetting and you can get near where it works but you might run into problems of nit picking the launch stumbles, high speed starvations, etc.

Once you get that suspension set up and it hooks, thats when parts start breaking :) Definetely experiment wiht the launch RPMS and the leave. This is going to a few test and tune sessions worth of fun.

Ive hooked hard a few times, thats when my 9" let loose right after my 11.88 run and i ended up replacing a 3rd member minus the detroit locker. Ive also smoked a clutch. I really havent had 1 good day at the track without some kind of obsticle!
