Anyone had any experience with Por-15 "Pelucid"? I have alot of aluminum under the hood and don't want to always be cleaning it up. I have some peices I need to polish a little first. (Never done this but assume it is easy with a wheel for the grinder and some polish, any suggestions on that) After everything is cleaned up I was thinking of coating it so it keeps it's lustre. According to the catalog the por-15 stuff is supposed to work great. I have had excellent experience with their other products. Also, I have a new March Serpentine pulley/bracket kit. They come all shiny and polished with a thin clearcoat on the peices. I was also wondering how well this held up and if I should also give these peices an additional coating too. If anyone has any tips from experience on any of the things I mentioned please let me know. I would like to make a decision soon.
Thanks alot.

Jeff, I've used the Pelucid product on another motors' aluminum intake manifold and after 3 years of moderate street usage, it was starting to yellow in small spots. It was hardly noticeable until I pulled the motor out to sell it. Under the sunlight, you could see it. This may not happen in all applications but it did on mine.
On the 502, I've used their 'new' Glisten PC product on the water pump, intake manifold, and the 950 Holley HP. It looks very nice and there is zero indication of any yellowing. Por15 folks told me that it would hold up better (than Pelucid) in high heat areas. Under low heat conditions, my guess is the the Pelucid should be fine. The finish is excellent on both products. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/cool.gif Your March billet pieces would probably benefit from it and now wish I had done mine that way.
Follow the instructions carefully and you'll have great results.

Thanks Wes, nice car you have too. The pics on your site of the engine, are those the valve covers coated with the "glisten" product? That is the finish I am looking to achieve. Thanks for the info...I am expecting a new Resto-Motive catalog anytime now so I will definately look into that product. They also have a product called Metal Mask that I am interested in for the fresh cast iron look on my steering components.
Were you also annoyed by March products engraving the part numbers onto the pulleys? Fortunately not many people will catch that, especially if I coat it enough to fill in the engravings so they dont fill with dirt or grease.

Thanks Jeff http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif ...no, the valve covers are chromed Weisco pieces with no clear coating. They are holding up really well so far but I've seen an identical pair on another BB that looked pretty weathered and stained. Guess it depends on how clean you keep them. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif
Yea, I'd forgotten about the engraved ID numbers on the March pulleys, but they were on mine too. Surprised they just don't stamp them instead...oh well.

I've used Pelucid on several of my cars, in no heat as well as high heat areas. Over time (1-2 years), they all yellowed. My recommendation is not to put it on your aluminum finish. MTCW
