: Got my PPG priced! OUCH!
feedphillipnow Jan 23rd, 04, 7:47 PM I got everything priced! DANG. It's for a 2 color setup PPG 2003 HONDA blue #5925 2 courts $128 5925/2 another 2 courts $114 2 courts of PPG white $114 + the reducers hardeners and the clear coats. None of this includes my time and the primer , and the dings I need to take out. But the grand total graemlins/hurray.gif $744.61 It would be nice to keep it under $500 but Im not sure I see that happening. What have you guys paid to do yours?
West Coast - paint is on the "court"
East Coast - paint comes in "quarts"
Not slammin' ya, just thought I'd represent.
:D
Bob West Jan 23rd, 04, 10:52 PM The guy painting my car said it cost him about 850.00 in supplies.
Texas70 Jan 23rd, 04, 11:06 PM I have about $500 (ballpark guess) in my supplies, including primer, but I am using PPG's economy line "OMNI" basecoat /clearcoat. One gal of Cortez Silver and one quart of Teal, 1 gal clear urethane top coat. Primer is 1 quart PPG DP50LF epoxy and 1 gallon of Sherwin Williams urethane primer/surfacer (sandable). This includes all thinners, reducers and hardeners of course. I will be shooting all of it myself and I will be happy with however it turns out. This is a hobby, cruiser and bracket racer after all. Your cost sounds about right. :D
BowtieAaron Jan 24th, 04, 12:48 AM im gunna have about 75-100.00 into my paint job.. sicne im taking my car into my auto body shop, thats what it will cost. including reducers, and paint and all that.
its Dupont Chroma-one ( i belive) 131S primer im gunna be using. thats all i want is a primer finish.. for now.

feedphillipnow Jan 24th, 04, 5:27 PM Hey aaron what type of silver is that on the 71/72? On your site. Im thinking of either going a 2003 PPG Honda blue w/ white or with silver. Anyone know of a nicer blue? smile.gif
Also in comparison with PPG good stuff and there economy line. Is it greatly different? Or woth the extra couple hundred dollars?
sevt_chevelle Jan 24th, 04, 5:41 PM Phil, put it to you this way. I wouldnt repaint my rusted out beat up wheelbarrow with OMNI even if you paid me too.
Sorry but you get what you pay for and the price differnce between OMNI and PPG Deltron or Global is WELL worth it.
Omni basecoat covers like crap very transparnet. The clears tend to be yellowish not as clear as the PPG clears. Also the clear tends to yellow over time and fade out quickly. They DONT sand and buff as nice as PPG clears.
Dont even start me on OMNI single stage graemlins/sad.gif
The paint job can make or break your car. You could have a super straight car and have it look like crap with a below par finish, why not have it look its best for just a few hundred more dollars???
feedphillipnow Jan 24th, 04, 6:07 PM I figured so Sevt! I did hear some bad stuff about that OMNI line. I defiantely didnt wanna go cheapie on this but was curious on it's pro's and cons. I'll definately go with the good stuff. Any color reccomends? :D
blumont Jan 24th, 04, 6:19 PM I think my spies hecker(sp?) paint for mine was about was about $750.00 cdn. That didn't include primer but was the base coat and clear.
