Advanced Finishing Systems. Riverside, CA 909-788-1847 (might be 951 area code, they changed recently) To blast my frame, core support, rear diff. upper/lower arms, upper/lower a-arms, and hood hinges ... $150.00. If I want to blast and powder coat black - $400.00

Used to pay 600-700 for outside, inside, underside and jambs.Thats plastic media blast. You quote sounds inline. Good paint stripper is 25-30 a gallon. You'll probably use 10 gallons and a bunch of sandpaper.Whats your time worth? To me its worth it to spend my time working on a nice clean body instaed of using that time stripping it.It takes a LONG time. heres a current stripping thread. chevelle02,
I'm in the middle of the same process and have been looking for a good place to do get my body blasted. What is the name of shop you are looking into? The shops I've looked into are Crown Chevy in Dublin recommended by "MARTINSR" and one other place in Hollister that I think is called San Benito Blasting. graemlins/beers.gif

70isfine,
they told me the $600 was just for the outside and the jambs and thats it, so going by that it seems they are really overpriced...

b64,
the shop is east bay media blasting and from the sounds of it it seems they are overcharging me, i haven't yet looked into crown chevy but i will tomorrow, ill also check out that place san benito but i think that may be to far for me to travel...

Here in Michigan, one shop wanted $800 to do the body shell of my 66 convertible (Strip-it,INc in Clinton Township). That was inside, outside, top and bottom. I went to another shop that charged me $1300, but, he did everything with the shell on my rotiserrie. He also did the doors, fenders, inner fenders, hood and trunk, then he etchprimed the whole shot. this was done at George's Collision on 9 Mile Road in Warren, Michigan.

gives you and idea of our price differences here in Michigan.

May I assume your name is Josh? Some of us here like first names..... makes it seem more homey. Anyhow, I responded earlier to some of your "blasting" posts. I just got my 64 El Camino done. Everywhere, underbody sides inside the bed, smugglers box and cover, inside the whole cab however, there were no doors, nothing north of the firewall, no trunklid (duh) and mine ended up right at $600.I dont' remember but it seems like it was about 7 hours or so. My csandblaster likes cash, saves me tax and him too I suspect, There's also no invoice though. Just remember that the more bare steel that you come home with the more primer that you're going to have to spray in a couple of days. A quart of DP and hardenenr is like $70 or so and you'll need a few of them. My suggestion..... take your frame and suspension parts down and get them done. Either paint it yourself or have them do it. You have many weeks just rebuilding the engine, tranny and rearend, and reaasembly before you can even get to the body work. Then worry about the body.

cam sweet,
thats does make really good sense on holding out on the body til im ready. but do you know a good ballpark figure for getting the frame sandblasted and painter w/ the components???

ill start working from the ground up and when i get to the body and ready to pay for the body work ill handle it then. i just need to find a good shop to do my frame...

so after calling about 25 media blasting places in the greater bay area ive narrowed it done to one.
its called gary's sandblasting in san leandro, i talked to the owner jerry. very friendly guy and he will do my frame and all the suspension components for $150 and when i take the frame down there i will bring one of my fenders and so he can blast it and see what it will take to get all the paint off the body - he said he would media blast my whole body in and out for like $600 but if the paint isnt that bad he will drop the price... so we'll see how this goes, now i just gotta wait for my engine & tranny dollie to arrive from eastwood so i can get my drivetrain out and finish disassembling the frame
