Well I finally made the decisions to go ahead and rewire the car. I just keep running into gremlin after gremli and plus I want the piece of mind. The car is a 69 Chevelle Malibu. I dont care anything for power windows, doorlocks, or any of that. I just want a radio, electric fans,EFI(not EFI yet, but will be in future), and maybe air conditioning down the road. My question is what harness can you guys recomend. The only 2 i have looked at are the Painless and American Auto wire harnesses. I was thinking of just going with a 12 circuit harness, but do you guys think this will be sufficient. Also, do they sell a kit that will be all inclusive as I have NO ,I mean NO, experience with wiring and this is a daunting task to me. Anyways, thank you guys so much for your time and info.

I went with new dash harness, engine harness, and forward lamp harnes from M&H at www.wiringharness.com. Pricey, but beautiful stuff, maybe the highest quality reproduction parts I have ever bought. They can add custom features like electric choke, HEI, internally regulated alternator, air conditioning, etc. Electric fans and/or EFI, I don't know, you'd have to ask them.

Because the harnesses are such exact reproductions, you don't really have to know anything about electrical to install them.

Same thing for Factory Fit, a division of American Autowire. As noted these are reproductions of the original harnesses right down to the connectors. Truly plug and play.

Cool thanks for the info. I had never heard of M&H before. I will check them out. I will let you guys know how things go. Im trying to get this done before the pro touring`s run through the hills. Anyways, thank you guys.

I restored/repaired my harness, but I'm an "electrical" guy.

But, I'd suggest you go with a stock replacement Chevelle harness if you don't have much electrical capability -- others here have already indicated some of the choices. The 12 circuit or 18 circuit muscle car harnesses are not plug and play. The ARE a great option if you are doing a bunch of modifications, building a race car or kit car, or have a model that a reproduction harness isn't made for; or of course like to do custom electrical work.

When you go to EFI, that system will have it's own harness anyway. And if you want to add electric fans, there are stand alone wiring systems you can use to add to your car.
