I'm in the process of restoring the instrument cluster in my '72 Chevelle SS. I've tested all of the instruments and cleaned their faces, polished the scratches out of the lenses, repaired two of the traces on the printed circuit (too cheap to justify $80 for a new one), chemically cleaned all of the contacts on the PC and the bulb sockets, and replaced all the old bulbs with new ones.
My question is that since I've gone to all the effort of cleaning everything up, would it make sense to use some dielectric grease on the contacts when I re-assemble everything to prevent future corrosion? I don't think it was used originally on the PC, but it was used in other places, such as in the headlamp switch.
