On my 70 elcamino, the bottom hinge on the drivers side is messed up. The door detent peice (is that the right name?) which is riveted in by the factory must have popped off when the previous owner had the body work done- the Dentent peice is now held on by a bolt, and it does not fit right- every time the door opens, there is a large bang when the roller runs along the dentent. (the bolt evidently is not the right width to fill the hole, so the whole peice wobbles on the pivot point.
Anyway- I want to just replace that lower hinge with a new one(I think the dentent peice has been wrecked by the wobbling over the last 2+ years its been like that)-
How hard is it to take the door off, install a new hinge, and re-install? Should i leave this to a body shop, or could A couple friends and I do this without screwing up the car? How long an operation is it?
Thanks in advance!
