Hi. I'm getting ready to paint my '68 SS convertible. Its going to be red with a white top & interior. I have a SS stripe decal kit that's white and have a few questions.
- do the decal stripes go under or over the clear-coat?
- also for the bottom part of the body that usually gets painted black, does it get painted on a convertible with white stripes and top?

All '68 SS cars got black bottom except for black cars. The tape stripes go on top of the final clear. If you want the floating look, paint the stripes over the base and then clear the whole thing. Looks nice, just not original.
