Started to go pretty easy and I said to myself, "this aint so bad". Big mistake.
I can't get bolts into the fire wall where the holes in the inner fender are cut way oversize. Like they knew this is a problem.
Can't get a bolt in one of the fender holes either. Had to move the radiator support forward on the drivers side approx 1/2 inch where it bolts to the frame. I was going to cut the fender extension, but there isn't much material before you break into the mounting holes. Figured the radiator mount was just not straight. When I put the radiator back in, I could tell that the radiator mount has a slight twist in it.
Not sure what to do.

If somebody could look at their 68 or 69 and tell me if the inner fender mounts on top of the radiador support flange or under it, I would appreciate it. I have it on top.

I have a 71 and purchased the new goodmark fenders that are supposed to fit better than the old ones. I would definatley hate to put the old ones on if these fit better. One full day from 8 to 5 to fit the fender to the hood and the doors and to the fender wells. A lot of shimms, and a lot of wallowing out the holes to fit. Then when they fit ok on the doors, they dont fit the hood. SO!, you get the hood to fit and then they dont fit the doors again. I wanna know who told goodmark they fit better. Next time I am buying the fenders and using them as patch panels, convinced thats the only way to go. I would suggest to get the fenders to fit as best as you can, shim and wallow the holes to make them bigger and to fit. Then when you have had enough, adjust the doors and hood later. Remember that they are aftermarket and you should get them to fit the car before you make the car fit them.

good luck.

Oops! just saw you bought the inners and not the outers. Cant help you on that but i bet they fit like the outers. I would still try to make them fit the car before you make the car fit them. good luck

I just put a pair of the new fenders on a 72. Fit great on the pass side, you could roll a ball bearing down it. The dr. side was a little tight in the center of the door/fender gap. I hope installing the inner fenders go as smoothly. Someone mentioned before that the inner fender mounts to so many places, that it would be hard to hit every mounting point w/o modification.

One thing to remember, if you have the front of the car supported on jackstands behind the front wheels, the weight of the engine will cause the front of the frame to "droop" and throw everything off. Put a jack under the frame where it's under the oil pan and support the weight there (with jack stands still in place for safety) if it's not on the tires while fitting sheet metal. Found that out the hard way on a friend's '70. The inner fenders he took off wouldn't fit back on with the car on jack stands.

No quarters, but purchased a cowl hood for my 70` Chevelle, with the flapper, and the trim on the rear edge of the hood, just got the car back from the shop, with a complete paint job. My painter says he has about 16 hours in the hood geting the low places out, straightening the edges, grinding the rear edge to get the trim to fit, still had to put 2 small screws on the under side to keep it from poping off. I`m not impressed....

Inner fenders are always a pain. I removed mine to repaint them and I thought I would need a sledge hammer to get them back in. You'd think they'd pop right back in as easy as they came out. WRONG!!!!
