: This Guy Insists this is a real 1969 SS
ecr69SSchevelle Aug 6th, 06, 9:17 PM Anyone feel like commenting on this 1969 Malibu that this guy is Claiming to be an SS - He told me in an e/mail that the experts from Chevelles.com agree - I have owned several 69 Chevelles and never seen a Malibu SS http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150019017807&sspagename=ADME%3AL%3ARTQ%3AUS%3A1
I'm not the expert, but, I think we need to see his buildsheet, anyway.............Don.
1badss396 Aug 6th, 06, 9:36 PM No proportion valve, wrong master cylinder, 10 bolt rear end, malibu horn shroud, malibu emblems, malibu side trim with hockey sticks in the front. I cant tell if the front clear running lights has the stainless steel trim around them? Ask him about the steering rag joint. I dont recall anyone ever asking agout that car before here on TC I think I would have see that one being that close to were I live.
The car sure has alot of NEW stuff I guess its a NEW Malibu ss, LOL
Nice looking car but the stripes are butt ugly!
64CDNSS Aug 6th, 06, 10:12 PM Isn't that a BOP axle under it?
Speedometer cable broken - title reads 88,915. With all the new stuff on the car I think he could have had that done too.
This part is actually pretty funny.
M21 OR M22 ( WHICHEVER IS THE BEST OUT OF THE TWO, THAT'S WHAT IT IS, YOU CAN CHECK FOR YOURSELF).
Nice car thought - I like it.
rbeckman Aug 6th, 06, 10:44 PM My guess it is NOT a SS, and I'm pretty sure that is NOT his house in the back ground. Buyer Beware on this one.
Derek69SS Aug 6th, 06, 11:21 PM All the interior emblems say "Malibu", the quarters say "Malibu" and the BOP 10-bolt are all obvious signs that this guy is a retard for trying to pass it off as a "true SS" :rolleyes:
flashx69 Aug 6th, 06, 11:23 PM Nice car but not a real ss.
BlueSS454 Aug 6th, 06, 11:58 PM I like how he puts on there Concours Malibu.....that's a station wagon. This guy is so misdirected it's not funny :sad:
srt4geezer Aug 7th, 06, 12:25 AM Doesn't an SS have a Tach right in the guage cluster> Shouldn't need an aftermarket one if so.
Dean Aug 7th, 06, 12:31 AM Tach doesn't have anything to do with a 69 being an SS or not, you could get an SS without tach & gauges OR a non SS with tach & gauges.
Email him back and tell him the folks at chevelles.com all agree that it is not an SS.
"36 = Series: Concours Malibu/El camino"
He is sorta correct, he just left out the comma between Concours & Malibu.
36 series IS for Malibu, Custom El Camino, Concours, 8 Cylinder.
1badss396 Aug 7th, 06, 12:34 AM I think someone should send him the link to this page, LOL
I also think their is some shill bidding on that auction too.:rolleyes:
abodybill Aug 7th, 06, 12:36 AM did anyone notice the automatic knub on the steering column. looks like false advertising to me.
If it looks like a Malibu, badging says it is a Malibu, guess what... it is a Malibu. I like the 66 big block addition, but it is not an SS. Everything about this car lets you know it is a Malibu.
Woj.
pjkemo Aug 7th, 06, 7:33 AM Why is the horn relay on the firewall?
bdss396 Aug 7th, 06, 7:46 AM Nice car, but not an SS, unless someone really liked all the Malibu trim. Buyer be ware.
Why is the horn relay on the firewall?
Looks like a relay added for something, my guess would be for the ignition system.
mr 4 speed Aug 7th, 06, 9:57 AM Nice driver...too bad the guy can't be honest and he should have accepted the high bid
6T8396SS Aug 7th, 06, 3:50 PM Wasn't frost lime paint only available on the malibus and wagons? Not the SS's??
6T8396SS Aug 7th, 06, 3:55 PM Never mind Im thinking of the Monaco Orange (72) and Daytona Yellow (76) were exclusive SS colors in 69...I had thought the other way around...
cliffs1970 Aug 7th, 06, 4:13 PM All the work he had to do to convert that true SS to a Malibu.
BlueSS454 Aug 7th, 06, 9:02 PM Wasn't frost lime paint only available on the malibus and wagons? Not the SS's??
Frost Green Metallic, like mine :D. I've even seen a COPO car this color.

1968SS427 Aug 8th, 06, 11:25 AM It's a pretty car............ BUT I wouldn't pay an SS price for it !!!
* 10 bolt rear - (original SB)
* Gear indicator on dash & Shifter column - (originally auto tranny)
* Malibu trim
* If it was an M22....... Boy, you would know it.
It's a nice clean Malibu with a BB & 4speed upgrade, but no SS
rickster182 Aug 16th, 06, 12:50 AM The rear end looks to be a Corporate 10 bolt 8.5" out of a '71-'72 Olds or Buick based on the shape and the larger lugs hanging down and the scalloped cover. The BOP 8.2 10 bolts did not have the larger lugs like that, not that it matters much. The car is definately a mix of parts though it does seem like it's nicely done as far as quality, just not a very good attempt at cloning.
