yeah, i checked the archives, but i need more answers.

which is better, polyurethane or stock replacement rubber?
im looking for quality and longevity. i dont care too much about ride quality (unless its the equivalent to Hell), im not expecting a beautiful ride from 36 year old technology.

and whats the best way of removal/installation?
using a hydraulic jack with some sort of 2x4 to spread the weight?

thanks again fellas.

My vote would be for the urethane body bushings. Makes the car feel nice and tight. As far as the installation, you've got the right idea. Do one side at a time to keep the body aligned on the frame. Spray all of the bolts with some type of liquid wrench and hope that they all come out without breaking or spinning in the cage nuts. If that happens, you'll have to cut a hole in the floorpan to access the broken or spinning bolt from the top to get it out. I used a cut off wheel and cut an H and folded the metal back. A hole saw will also do the job. I almost forgot. You will want to remove the front bumper, because when you raise the body the front valance piece btw. the grill and bumper may get in a bind and become damaged. The biggest thing is to not get in a hurry. You'll love the results. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

I second the poly bushings.

I replaced mine with rubber, and the body feels kind of shakey sometimes. I am thinking about going with poly at some point.

Might use a 4x4 instead of 2x4. I used a 4x4 and it bent a little. I would think a 2x4 would not provide much support at all.

You might also try to drill some holes above the bushings to soak them if you have any rust problems. Also, unless you want to have the car out of commission for a while, you might want to get all the bolts loose before you start swapping bushings in case you should loosen a cage.
