Trans would be good. Would have to do some minor mondifications. Not sure if the disc brakes would work, but you will definately get someone on here to be able to tell if they will work. You can also type into a search engine, "1987 monte carlo disc brake swap to gm A body" or "tall disc brake spindle" to see if your car comes up as a donor.

G-body discs will work, but I wouldn't recommend them. They have bumpsteer, turning-radius, and ackerman problems, and the rotors are too small to adequately stop a Chevelle.

Rear axle has similar mounts (converging 4-link) but the angles of the upper ears are different.

The rear end should be a useless 7.5". See if the steering box is a quick steer.

I can tell you one thing. The G Body guys would be very intrested in it for parts too. About the only real thing I can see would be to save the transmission also. But there is still a lot of desireable parts on those 80's MCSS.

Don't bother with the disc brakes. They are inadequate to stop a G body let alone a Chevelle. The rear ends are junk in them and they are a little more narrow than a Chevelle rear. I've blown up 3 of them :). You can use the 2004R if that's what it is. You just need to get a lockup switch.

Steering box will bolt up. That's what I've got on my 67. I think you use your old pitman arm, but I'm not sure. It's been a while since I put in on.

I would part out the Monte SS and use the money for the proper parts for the Chevelle. As stated the brakes are a joke for the g-body and to be honest the drums on the Chevelle are better than the g-body discs. The trans would be useful, unless your putting out serious power from the engine then you will need to have the trans worked to make it last. The steering box is a fast 12 to 1 box but the stops are wrong for the chevelle you will lose turning radius. Take off the steering box, the trans if it is a 200 4R (the monte SS has the same one as the Grand National in the valve body which allows full throttle 4th gear runs) the sway bars and rear trailing arms and sell that stuff. The nose is good sale piece and the dash trim, actually any of the pieces that make the body or interior SS. The rear end is good to sell for those who want a 3.73 gear in a G-body but worthless for anything else, it might have a posi too.

The brakes on my 86 MCSS work just fine, but would be too small for a Chevelle and probably won't sell to the Monte people. Other parts will sell, just go over to www.montecarloss.com and list them in the for sale section. good luck.

How many turns from lock to lock?
Im contemplating doing this on my car, was it worth the effort changing out boxes?
