I have been wanting to build a twin turbo aluminum small block for a while. I have never had a turbo, let alone a twin turbo. I was wondering if anyone on this site has a twin turbo now? If so, can you give me any advice or current combination with numbers? I will be doing a ton of reading before a dollar is spent toward the engine and I will also be in contact with some of the turbo manufacturers, but I wanted to ask here first. Thanks for your time.

Sorry, I think I should have posted this under the Engine forum.

I've built a couple of twin turbo engines, one all aluminum. I currently have a twin turbo small block in my Chevelle, but I did not build this one.
I usually go by the turbo manufacturers on turbo specs, but with twin something in the T52-T63 range will make over 1000 HP easily. Obviously you need a lower end able to handle that power level, and a turbo specific piston is a plus. I like using a ceramic barrier coating on the pistons and valves if the budget permits, especially on pump gas. I usually avoid a rod that puts the pin in the oil ring. Compression in the 8-8.75:1 range depending on power goals and street or track, good heads, and a turbo grind camshaft.
It's actually easy to make a nice streetable turbo setup, the difficult part comes depending on your budget. You'll also need the supporting pieces like EFI, fuel system, intercooler, strong trans/rearend, etc.

Also, if you want to go aluminum block I'd highly recommend going LS1/LS2. They were intended to be aluminum from the get-go and you get the most modern design out there rather than starting with a 50 year old design that was originally intended for iron that has been converted to aluminum.
Plus, you can get some MAJOR flow numbers out of good LS1/LS2 heads...
Lots easier to do this now as several manufacturers offer off-the-shelf oil pans and motor mounts for swapping them into A-bodies.
Nitrorocket on this site has a TT LS1 in his Chevelle, made 750 hp at the rear wheels on 93 octane pump gas. Long block is pretty much GM stock LS1 with the exception of forged pistons.
The other cool thing about going with an LS1 is you can use LS1edit or HPtuners on the factory computer to take care of all your tuning needs.
