Hi all, Is there a affordable way to convert a1964 model to guages? I have found new guages for 1967 up, but nothing for the 1964-5-6 years. Any help would be great! Thanks

There are new gauge clusters available for 65's from the restroration part houses. As I understand it, the fuel gauge would require a different fuel sender (different resistance,) the ammeter is wired differently ('64 uses a shunt.) I don't know about the oil pressure and temp gauge. From lights to gaugues would no doubt need different sending units.

I'd be curious to hear what other say, since I raised a similar question recently. I need to diagnose my fuel and ammeter, and if I needed to replace anything, I like to know my options.

64 and 65 are similar in appearance. 66, IIRC, is different.

As a Nova guy, I can tell you that they are finally making the elusive 63-65 Nova Shunt, which is the same part used on '64 Chvelles w/ gages. I need to order one for my '65. I'd suggest checking with www.chevy2only.com, or some of the Nova restoration places if the Chevelle folks don't have 'em.

I saw that! What are the symptoms of a bad shunt anyway?
