I purchased a 71 chevelle about 4 years ago.I just recently started to do some research on it, and found it to have a matching # 402 in it.I believe it is a Malibu 400.Can anyone tell me if this is a rare Chevelle.

huffhuff,

I just bought a 71' Malibu 400 from a farmer in southern Illinois too.
It is a 71' Malibu 400, red w/ black bench, 402 BB, 4bbl, HD 3 spd manual trans. on the floor, 3.31 12 bolt post, rear sway bar, no power steering, no power brakes, 4 wheel drum, am radio, sport steering wheel.
I beleive they bought them special back them to race. Light weight & fast & cheap from the factory (sleeper).
