Someone told me that the factory wood wheel option (N34 ?) was actaully wood. My understanding was that they were simulated wood.

simulated wood wheel is correct. 64-66 2 spoke, 67 up 3 spoke

As an aside, Chevy actually did make a genuine teak-rimmed steering wheel, but it was a Corvette exclusive. They are out there. Most Corvettes of the day got the simulated wood wheel though.

The wheel and mounting hardware is the same.I think the horn buttons should be different for each year.

They could have had it confused with the 64 GTO wood wheel which is actually wood. In 65 and later Pontiac went like Chevy and had simulated wood wheels.
