- Towing with a 350 should be no problem (knowing HP output would help).
- 4 speed will not be the most efficient or enjoyable means of towing, but will get the job done.
- Knowing the rear end ratio would also help. Difference between a 4.10 and 3.08 could mean as much as 1,000 pounds variance in towing capacity.
Based on the information you have provided I would guess approximately 4-5,000 pounds

I would recommend against towing with any 43 year old car. I went down that same road with my '68 SS396 El Camino and decided to get a half ton Suburban. Here are the issues I thought about during that time:
Insurance: do you have collectors insurance? Will they cover you if you get into an accident with your classic car while towing a trailer?
Brakes/Suspension/cooling: might be fine for regular driving, but towing puts a 150% load on these parts. Your engine might be fine, but do you have an aux. trans. cooler? Knowing the rear gears is a MUST. You will not pull ANYTHING with 3.08s. 3.73 is the bare minimum, 4.10s even better. Brakes are the same thing. I know I wouldn't trust my stock disc/drums in my '68 with 4,000 pounds behind me. These parts must be in tip-top condition before you even consider towing. Actually they must be better than 100%. Also consider that even though our El Caminos kind of 'look like' trucks, they are not. It is a Chevelle frame (albeit boxed) beneath your El Camino. Would you consider towing the same thing with a '64 Chevelle? I know, I've been there, the coolest thing ever would be to blast down the highway pulling a trailer with my classic Elky, but there are lots of variables to consider. Not that it can't be done, but know exactly what's involved and also consider the strain you're putting on 43 year old components. Is your car wired for trailer brakes? How heavy is the trailer you're towing? Heavier rear springs or air shocks will be mandatory if you don't want the rear bumper dragging on the ground. Lots to consider.
