: Are all 71-72 radiator supports created equal?

I have a radiator support that I can use for my project '71, but it's totally surface rusted. I'd like to find a better one to start with. Is there a difference between AC and non-AC radiator supports? Between ones for 3 core (auto) or 4 core (auto) radiators? What modifications have to be done for a 4 core radiator to fit?
Thanks!

They should be the same for A/C or non A/C. Year One states in there catalog that you can slightly bend the lower lip of the cradle to accept the heavy duty radiators.

The 3 or 4 Core Supports should be the same. The dirrecence is when you have A/C. A/C cars had a larger opening in the supports and also used 4 bolts to hold the top radiator plate on. For best cooling, get an A/C support and radiator regardless if you have A/C.

I believe a non-A/C support could also be cut open to reveal more radiator surface.

I take back my 1st reply. Jeffk is right. The opening on the A/C core is bigger. Evidently the one on my A/C car was replaced at one time w/a non A/C support. The repo I bought from Ground Up has the bigger opening. Sorry about that, Dennis

I just replaced my original radiator in my '71 SS with a 4-core and I had to notch the lower lip on the driver side so that the cushion would lay flat. I think deejay mentioned this, too.
