Does anyone have a link to an OEM wire crimper, i guess its for crimping the F style connectors. I want to rebuild a wire harness under the hood at the fuse box, but before doing this I want a good crimper, not the standard all purpose crimper that any hardware store sells. Tanx

sar,
Any good electronics, or electrical supply house should have the type of crimper you are looking for. MSD also has them in thier catalog.

I have at least 5 different ones from my days as an electronics tech. They definitely come in handy at times.

American Autpwire sells two different sizes. A little (actually-very) pricey. I bought the 10 to 18 guage wire crimpers with F type ends. With a little practice, they work very well. I tried to do it with needle nose and reguler crimpers, but that doesn't work with the F ends. Remember, tools are investments. Good luck.

Another good crimping tool is the Ideal Crimpmaster available at most electrical suppliers. It also uses changeable die sets. 30-506 Crimp Tool Frame (http://www.newark.com/productimages/standard/3757330.jpg) Also available at Newark (http://www.newark.com)
For the factory wire terminals, Packard 56 series open barrel terminals use
30-586 Commercial Open Barrel Die Set (http://www.idealindustries.com/Product_Images/FullSize/6FS098.jpg) This die set will also work on the weather pac terminals.
I have two die sets, one has been modified to use on the male terminals. There are two guide tabs that will be bent if not modified. I have over $100 invested in this tool.
