I need a new gas tank for my 71 Elky. There are 2 repros on the market, an american made one and an import. Prices are about a hundred $ difference. Any experience with either? What would you guys recommend and who has the best price? Thanks, Scott!

Did you get an American made or import?

I got one made in Canada from ebay seller Tamraz. A very well-made tank. It was only $160 plus about $40 shipping.

GasTanks.com are at a lot of the shows. They carry the Canadian made Quanta tanks. If you can wait, you can get one for around $150 and save the freight if they're coming to a show around you.

In NJ/PA (if anyone else is interested), they are at Carlisle and Englishtown.

Got mine from gastanks.com too, it was made in the USA with the filler neck already on it. Nice tank & perfect fit.

Mine was a Spectra-Premium brand tank that fit and looks nice. Also made in Canada.

I must have gotten one made on Friday afternoon or something. It leaked like a sieve at the seam and where the filler neck met the tank. I ended up having to weld the entire seam and resolder the filler neck. I was less than impressed.

I didn't know Spectra made Chevelle tanks! They have been making aftermarket tanks for years for popular late model stuff. My Chevy pickup and my Honda both have Spectra tanks and I have had no problems with them.
