Hi guys. Can anyone tell me who produces the highest quality of 1/4 panels. I am looking for a reproduction that is complete with door and trunk jam and full roof sail panel for my 1970 Chevelle SS LS6. I am finding it hard to locate NOS panels. I have noticed that Ground Up carries a reproduction full panel produced by Goodmark. Has anyone used these panels and if so, are you please with the finished product. I what a high quality finish!
If there are any other panels out there that have the quality of the NOS panels, please let me know.
Thanks, Curtis.

Everyone here seems to agree that the Goodmark panels are about the best you can put on your car, short of locating NOS pieces. I'm just glad Goodmark makes those.

I posted here about an NOS pair that was sold on ebay a few weeks ago for $1200, and the replies to the post indicated that the goodmark repros are every bit as good as the original GM pieces, particularly because they're made from the original GM dies.

I've talked to some body guys who have hung the Goodmarks. The consensus is that they are nicer than the NOS GM's because Goodmark re-tooled the dies and supposedly they have crisper lines. I just called Goodmark last week about these and they told me they were in the midst of retooling the dies again as the only last for about 500 stampings. They are out of the 1/4's until late March early April according to the guy on the phone. I just bought a pair of 1/4's locally from a guy yesterday for my 72. One is NOS GM and the other is a Goodmark. I'll be able to directly compare the two. The car will hopefully go in to the shop in a couple weeks. They are cutting in my NOS fenders with the silver paint right now. When that is done the rest of the car will follow. The shopowner welcomed me into the shop to help them work on it too! He told me I could drill out the spotwelds on the 1/4's with his supervision and other stuff. I can't wait. Always wanted to learn how to do this and now I'll be able to! I plan on taking lotsa photos and will be updating my site as the bodywork progresses.

From what I'm told there are no repops made in this country. They're all imported whether they're Goodmark, Sherman, or whomever. But I haven't heard anything bad about them either. Apparently a lot of the NOS stuff that is floating around may be leftovers that were not originally used because the quality was not up to snuff. But hey, I'm no body man so correct me if I'm wrong.

I used GOODMARK metal in my '70, yes, they were not made in the USA, but the contours seemed fine to me.

Well, when I bought my repro 70 1/4s they were made by (i think) Central Stamping? In Michigan. They supposedly sold the dies to Goodmark who still makes them in the USA. If they werent made here I would'nt buy them now. ANY repro metal that I've bought that was made oversea's has been crap. Better check it out again.
