Guys,
My new engine chrome parts are rusting fast, I live at the beach and didn't realise how fast they would go.. Always lived inland.
After cleaning/polishing the parts can I use a wax of somekind to seal out all the sea mist, elements etc..
Chrome alternator, valve covers, etc...
Any ideas would be appreciated. From now on parts will be powder coated.
Thanks.
Jack

Any top quality wax will work just fine on chrome Jack.

Since you now live near the beach, I'd ask one of the Boat Shops what they would recommend. They should be up on what's best in your area. Some of those boats are PRICEY!

Thanks for the responses.
I'll check with the local boat guys, good idea.
I guess my concern is how wax would react with the heat from the engine. Melt, run ??

Jack, for my chrome valve covers I clean them with Mothers Chrome Polish and then finish with a quality wax. Never had a problem with this in over ten years on various types of chrome covers, no runs, etc.

Hey Jack, I would also start rinsing off your entire car with fresh water every few days including the engine, that should help out.
