Well now I feel like an idiot! I bought my 68 chevelle last year with the idea of fixing into a fun street machine. I parked it and spent the last twelve months putting together my drive train. ( 420 blown 355 )
I then turned my focus to the car. It is a nice straight 2dr hardtop, with unusual amounts of undercoat on the passenger side. After removing the front clip (and the undercoat) to refurbish the frame I find a tiny "patch job". It is actually a 1/4 inch thick piece of steel welded over a crack. The crack begins just in font of the fire wall and runs right through the frame holes.
I normally would have found this but the previous owner had blended the weld job perfectly with the frame contours. Needless to say I need some advice. Can I replace that section and maintain strength? Are the kits? I plan for wheels up launches and want the car to stay under me when it lands.
Thanks
