Brand new member with my first help question:
Is there a template or some thing to use to correctly install SS and 454 on the side of my 70 Chevelle?

Razz-
Here is diagram #1 (http://www.71protouringchevelle.com/fenderemblem01.jpg) and diagram #2 (http://www.71protouringchevelle.com/fenderemblem02.jpg) showing placement of the "SS" and "454" emblems for 70-71-72 Chevelle Super Sport cars. Good Luck!

I have those diagrams as well but while they show the relative positions for all the studs to one another they don't show the position relative to the fender. I replaced my fenders and made a template of the locations before trashing what I now realize were reparable fenders. I also included some additional measurements but naturally can no longer find those. My new fenders remain "unmarked".
Anybody have the emblem positioning measurements?

Here are my feeble thoughts. As I need the same answers for my 69.
20=20in from the top or bottom of the fender.
5=5in from the wheel well opening.
Just a thought.

Hey Hunter,
Thanks for trying except they use those same '20' and '5' references for both the 'SS' and '454' diagrams...

I just pryed off the rear most S of my left fender, which I know is original to the car. The S was also, cause it wasn't the post and lock type, it WAS the post and nut type. The hole for the top stud of the rear S is located 13 7/16 down from the top of the fender, and 5 1/16 forward of the back edge of the fender. Granted the fender line curves at the back edge, so hold the tape measure level and you should be extremely close to factory. You should then be able to locate the rest of the holes from the diagram. The right fender is not original and whoever drilled those holes have them too far back and up a little. Looking at the two sides, it is apparent that the right location looks unbalanced compared to the left. Hope this helps. I will be saving my left fender for reference when I replace it !! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
