Hi,
I am swapping doors on my El Camino and have some questions regarding the chrome that runs around the window frame.

1) Is it even chrome? Stainless maybe?

2) How can I take it off without damaging it?

3) How can I put it back on without damaging it?

4) Is there anyone reproducing these pieces?

I couldn't find these pieces through Year One or Ground Up, but I'm hoping there is a source somewhere. The reason I need to take them off and put them back on is because the doors I found have better sheetmetal than my current doors, but have worse chrome around the window frame. Thanks in advance!

1- Anodized aluminum

2- Veeeerrry Carefully ;) I used an old style can opener to carefully pry it up from he back side. I moved the trim only a slight bit on each pass. Took 4 passes for it to pop off. B carefull its easy to gouge.

3- Putting it on was easier than getting it off. Rag with a block of soft wood and lots of tapping.

4- Until recently no - I heard but haven't confirmed that someone is repo"ing it.

Reproduction Window Frame Trim, Yes.

Try Dynacorn.com, Skip intro (optional), click New Parts, Click EL Camino and year '72, you will see them listed.

I remember someone recently on Team Chevelle posted that they bought them and that they workrd out fine.

FYI, David
