i have a chance to pick up a 4.11 ratio complete rear from an 86 monte carlo.
will it bolt into a 66 chevelle?

I know you can put a 66-67 style A body rear into a 78-88 G body if you use different upper control arms.
FYI,86 Monte rear is only a 7.5" diameter ring gear

I don't think so. I know to put a Chevelle rear in a 4th gen Monte takes aftermarket trailing arms due the different angle of the mounting points. I doubt anyone makes the arms to adapt the Monte rear to the Chevelle.

The '78 and later Monte Carlo rear end is a 7.5, which nobody should ever use in anything that has an engine larger than a 305. It will not bolt into an early Chevelle anyway.
