A 327 is a venerable engine. Millions were made. Probably getting kind of rare now. Wide bore and short stroke. You tend to need lotsa rpm to make them really come alive.

Most people would probably recommend that you find yourself a 350 and have it made into a 383. That seems to be the hot setup right now for the budget conscious. Lower RPM, magna torque with lots less stress on the rotating assembly.

You can't beat the 350 Chevy for dirt cheap horsepower.

But if your 327 long block is good, that's what I would complete, for the street. Think about it, the main difference between the 327 and the 350 is a mere .23" of stroke, and 23 cubic inches of displacement. I think that practically whatever you get for the 327- intake, exhaust, whatever- would transfer to a 350 or 383 if in the future you decide you REALLY GOTTA HAVE that extra 20-60 ft/lbs. In fact if it's a large-journal 327, that can be stroked out to 383 CID.

Do a search here for 327 combos and you'll find about a million of them.
