Wow, what a weekend!

After 21 years of sitting in my garage unregistered with a small block replacement motor in it, my 70 came back to life today in a big way.

Over the last 7 years we took the entire car apart (frame off) then reassembled it with the original 396.

What an amazing journey it has been. And the excellent resturation that is the result would not have been possible without the help of so many of you. Thank you!

We still have to put in the side glass and seats (which have been all redone), then the headlights, grill and bumpers - but I feel so close now that it runs I can almost taste it!

It is a '70 2 door coupe 396 (bored 0.70 over), roller cam and rockers, turbo 400 automatic and I have the original build sheet!

Someday soon I will start posting some of the pictures I have taken. Today was just such an exciting day I had to write about it. And thank everyone that has helped me get to this point.

I really wanted to bring it to the Chevelle show at Niagara Falls at the beginning of this past month since I live in NY, but we just didn't get it going in time. Always other events coming up I suppose. Maybe I'll take it to Rhienbeck NY in September if she's ready!

What do they say in the song? 'Oh, what a feeling. What a rush!'

Non car people just can't understand why we get our nails dirty. The details are lost on them. To those of us that love Chevelles it is a real high to reach the point that you are at now. It doesn't stop there, when you bring it out to the next Northern Chevelle Gathering you will be rewarded when all the other Chevelle nuts take a look at it. We are all into it, based on what I have seen.

Of course few things can peeve you more than a know-it-all who proceedes to 'enlighten' you. Sometimes you actually can learn a thing or two, but more often than not you just get a sense of disrespect and of a person who needs affirmation. Ahem...

I'm glad to hear that you stuck with it and brought it to this point. The 1970 Chevelles are all cool!

I've heard that the "know it alls" and the "quick to point out flaws" types have ended the careers of many car showing enthusiests because they don't respect some of the personal choices the restorer may have made along the way.

I for one am open to listen to a knowledgable person talk about things they are highly experienced in, because I am always looking to learn more, but if they are just trying to put down my efforts I know I would be quick to tell them to go tell someone who wants to hear about it - because I sure dont! :O)

Like you said only those that have gone thru every bolt on a car like this (and done it up the way they want it) can understand the subtle difference between someone being respectful (or disrespectful) when inquiring (or making comments) about your car.

I can't wait to get together with some of you guys and share the respect!!!

Thanks! I haven't posted any pictures before, but maybe I'll try it this week.

I'm getting ready to put in the side glass and interior and I posted a question about the door glass in the body shop forum.

Any quick responses on that question would be very much appreciated also!
