The wipers on my '71 Elky have never worked since I put the car together. I decided to troubleshoot them today and made a suprising discovery. I unhooked the transmission from the wiper motor and it came on when I hit the switch! It comes on when the button is pushed for washers and comes on when switched to low speed, and parks when shut off. When I switch to high speed it makes a half circle and stops. It will start again when switched to low. I hooked the transmission up and it makes a half circle and stops. I also noticed that I can stop the arm with a few fingers with the transmission unhooked. It seems like the motor is weak, is this possible? I can grab the transmission when unhooked and move the wipers thru their complete cycle with only mild resistance.
Whats going on here?
