I have a 69 Chevelle SS 396 that I want to stripp and paint. What would be the best type of primmer for this situation? Also what is the best paint system to use for a great paint job?

I asked my local paint store..ask wherever you are planning to buy the paint and go with 1 supplier.

I'm using PPG. I went with DX1791 etch primer, then went with DPLF epoxy primer. Did all my body work ontop of that, I shot another two coats of DPLF today to cover any bare metal. Shot on 3 coats of K38 primer surfacer this evening. I will sand tomorrow and shoot on more K38. Will sand one more time and then seal it (I'm painting a black car) then use PPG Base Coat/Clear Coat to finish it off.
What ever brand you go with use their products and follow the tech sheets to the letter.

OK, saw your candle website, now lets see some pics of this 69. Oh, and welcome to the best Chevelle spot in town.

Check out Southern Polyurethanes Inc. for some of the best primers paints and clears available at very reasonable prices. http://www.southernpolyurethanes.com/index.htm
Strip the car and apply SPI epoxy primer, this would be the first step to a perfect paintjob. Technical support is top notch and there is a user's forum for reference and questions- http://spi.forumup.org/index.php?mforum=spi
