Just got my car back from the body shop yesterday and it looks great. I've still got some work to do: install chrome trim and bumpers, glass, some wiring harnesses, and other odds and ends. I had no trouble with the mechanicals, but the proper installation of trim pieces is somewhat baffling, so here are a few questions for starters:

1. Some trim requires a sealant on the intallation nut, to keep water from getting behind the panel. What is this sealant and where can I get it?

2. The trim around the side windows has some type of thin foam tape to attach it with, along with some screws. Where do I get this foam tape?

I'm sure I'll have more questions as I go.

Many people use the strip caulking you can buy at the auto paint store. I use windsheild rope/ butyl tape for almost all these applications. Tear off a little chunk and stick it in the speed nut. Stretch it out to make thinner gaskets like you need on the weather strip retainers. That foam is available, but I don't know the source.

Thanks for the help. I'll keep searching for the foam tape.
