I was wondering if the need for me to move up 9 jet sizes in the back had anything to do w/my stock fuel pump not keeping up. If you are too lean, would your motor just cut out, or would it just stop pulling? Mine would cut out under load in 3rd and 4th till I went to 84's in the back. Most recent run at the track after some basic mods had it sputtering/cutting out again on the top of 3rd and 4th, then I realized I was emptying the bowls. Just got a high vol/press pump now and wondering if I should go back to stock.

Vince, you are saying you went up 9 jet sizes from stock on the secondaries right? If so, I would go back to at least something closer to stock jetting for a starting point. If you were running to bowls dry from the beginning, larger jets just made the problem worse. Go back to where you started and give the new pump a try. Good Luck!

Jay, yes - 9 sizes on the secondaries. I agree, you would think that the bowls would empy quicker w/the bigger jets, but the car ran better w/the 84's in the back vs. 75's.
Trying to see if I'm fighting 2 issues - too lean a carb AND not enough fuel pump. Easy enough to back to stock I suppose.

You could just run it like it is with the new pump, then back up from there and see what happens. 9 jet sizes is a lot to me though. Maybe split the difference?

I already ran her w/the new pump. Don't feel any difference, didn't expect to to be honest. Just don't want her running outta fuel again.
