: should I do floors with drivetrain out?

Here's my dilemma......

My car has been undriveable since Sept 2001.

Currently I have the motor and trans out, along with fenderwells, ground 90% of the paint off the firewall, and am on my way back to having a driveable machine again.

The problem is that the floors in this car are horrible....and the trunk is no picnic either, and the body mounts are crap.

Is there any advantage to bringing this car to a body shop in this state of dissasembly to have these items done, or should I just wait and be lazy, and maybe someday when the car is running again, and I feel like it, have it done then?

Any ideas on what this should cost me??

......and might as well get the roll bar done too http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Honestly I feel from personal experience and also having an Inlaw owning a body shop that the less crap they have to move, remove, or mess with the less your bill will be. If you tow it to them and ALL they have to do is replace metal and bodyfill/paint the area and then tow it back it will be alot better on your pocket book. If they have to remove the interior, drivetrain, body panels, ext. then your cost for the repair will increase significatly for labor hours for R&I, (remove & instal).

Hope this helps.

I just personally would want it done now, while the car is apart. If you wait you will probably regret it and think about it all the time you are driving it.

By all means you want the drivetrain and front clip off the car. With those items still on the car it will make a tough job even tougher, just get in the way.

Floors are not that bad to replace pretty easy. Theres a link to the install process http://www.chevelles.com/forum/Forum3/HTML/007226.html

Good luck...Eric
