Hello....
I was wondering which lighter is correct. Is it the one with the plastic chrome trim that covers the socket or the one without the trim? When I bought my elco it had one without the trim cover, but I've seen several interiors over the years with this trim and without it. I'm wondering if it depended on what interior option you purchased eg: deluxe seat belts got the upgraded lighter with the trim ring?
It's pretty knit-picky, but I was wondering if someone knew....?
Thanks a bunch!

Bluechevelless... I think you're thinkin' the knob you pull and not the trim around the base.
70welder... Do you know if your came that way from the factory?
Thanks!

Okay....
I took a look at the AIM and it shows two different lighters, one for El Caminos and one for Chevelles. The diagram does not have the trim, but who knows what part is shown. Also, there is one optional lighter for both. All four of these have different part numbers. I believe that the part number for these are on the back side of the knob.
I think I have the right one, but until I check the part number, I won't really know. The Elco part number is 3972037 with optional part 7021701. Both of these are different than the Chevelle.
This is what I've found.
Thanks for the time guys.

Here is a picture of my 1970 original lighter and socket. The chrome trim on the removable part flares out a little at the dash. The socket outer ring on the dash should be chromed.

Yes Frank. I think you're right about that one being the correct one for '70 Chevelles. I think the elco's got a different one - the one without that trim ring.
Thanks for the picture!
