I want to put fiberglass fenders on my car to reduce the weight. My dad had them on his drag only 67 camaro, and advised me against them, because of stupid people leaning against them and cracking them, and said they aren't very durable. This was about 15 years ago though, I thought maybe they were built stronger now... What do you guys think? BTW, I have the font clip off of my car already, for those of you that know what happened to it. Right now, I just need to add money, but I need to figure out what want first... Oh and I need money too :( ... Gotta have that.

Honestly? Loose the weigh somewhere else. Or make more horse power :)Yes, they can be strong enough, but to what gain? If they are light enough to save you any weight, they will not be strong enough.

There's better places to lose weight, the fiberglass fenders aren't really all that much lighter than your original steel fenders. Unless you use the race type fenders that are paperthin

I also heard that fiberglass stuff needs a lot of body work to look nice, even straight from the manufacturer. Even though it wouldn't be much, what kind of weight savings are we talking about? If I'm only gonna cut like 50 lbs for both fenders together thats not worth all the extra body work to me.

12- 20 LBS?!?!? Thats it?! Sounds like the only advantage is that they cost less than metal ones. And then you still have to do all the extra work on top of that?!?! Geez... I better win the lottery fast.
