: Goodmark hood problem.

I got a spanky new Goodmark SS hood for my car, and the dang thing is high in the front. Both front corners are just below the fenders and the center is 3/4 high.
Any suggestions besides forcing it down?

Dave, click on the following link and then go to the "Panel alignment" link there. It explains what you have to do. Basically, you put a block of wood or something to keep the hood from closing at each end where the rubber bumpers are. You then push down in the middle gently bending the hood down in the center.

Start out with a little pressure, then check the hood fit. If that doesn't work, then put the blocks back and try a little more pressure, then do it again and again, until you have it fitting well.

With enough time you can all panels fit perfect.

Dave,
What year model is your hood for?

Brian,

Your suggestion helped alot.
Got it very close.
I did the wooden block thing and got the front to line up. I had to do the same on the drivers side because there was too much curve. Got it down pretty well. It is in primer now. Patched my dent and took out some very small dings that looked like they were made from the underside. Tapped them in with the body hamer. It fits as well as a factory hood would fit now.
Thanks again for your help.

Dave
