I know I've read this before, but my search didn't find it.
I want to drill a '71 rear bumper for the SS emblem, I though my assembly manual would have it but it doesn't.
Where do I drill the rear bumper for the SS emblem??
Thanks

Of this group of Chevelle people, no one can tell me how far down from the top edge the rear SS emblem is??!! I thought there'd be at least ONE SS owner out there http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

The only place it looks correct is centered above the license plate. Center it from top to bottom in the area above that plate recess. I had to drill some holes in my new bumper for my clone car. The hols were pre-punched on real cars so most guys won't know the measurements.

Thanks! Centered up and down it will be. I wasn't sure it it was higher or lower than that.

I've got a stock 72 SS rear bumper over at my Dad's place. I can take some digital pics and measurements if you still need them.

I've got the answer... I just never get to post anymore.. They made me start working...
Center emblem where the bumper creases in the middle, use some tape and draw a straight vertical line. Use a square or triangle and draw a horizontal line where the bumper starts to roll down. Side look at the vertical line and you will see the curve. Measure the distance between the attach screws and center that. I don't have the measurements with me. They are in the 71 Assy manual however they are from tooling datums that you can't measure from.
