I have a small transmission fluid leak coming from the area where the speedometer cable goes into the transmission. I replaced the O-Ring but it still drips. Now what?

There are two o-rings associated with that housing the one on the outside and one on the inside. I will assume that you replaced the outer o-ring. If you remove the housing and then the driven speedo gear you can see the inner o-ring. They are available at your local dealer. Probably any GM dealer would have them.

When you get your hands on a new inner o-ring be sure to examine it closely. There will be a "knife" edge on one side of the inner circumference. Thats the sealing edge. It must face inwards against the transmission fluid. Put it in wrong and the fluid will leak past it.

I wish someone would find the number of that seal and share it. I've tried to locate them for a year, no luck.

To take the pain out of this problem just go to the local GM dealer and buy a new "bullet" ( the part where these seals are) They still sell them and the bullet will come with both new seals installed. We're not talking big bucks here.

Went to a local transmission shop and they GAVE me a new bullet. I tried to pay them for it and they wouldn't take any money! I went ahead and ordered a new gear to go with it because it felt a little rough where it meets the seal. Thanks for the help.
