Some of you posted in my previous thread about places to see in montana. Here is a pictoral tour, if anyone cares to look and/or comment:
Palouse falls was created by the great missoula floods. If anybody lives in the northwest and has never heard of them, google "glacial lake missoula" and you will probably be enlightened. For instance, some would be interested to know that all the good topsoil in the willamette valley originally came from eastern washington.

Along the way we drove up steptoe butte which is somewhat of a geographic anomaly. It is one of only a few places in the area that did not get covered by ancient lavaflows. This is obvious because it is the only thing in the area that consists of the kind of rocks it has. What a scary road that was!!

Next pics are from baldy point out of St. Maries ID, which is a large hill/butte you can drive up a ways and we hiked the rest of the way up to the very top for some nice views and photos. I thought the large rockslides were pretty neat.

From there it was more highways clear to glacier. We drove along a highway which I believe was un-numbered, through Avery, ID. The St. Joe river was worth a few pics so I stopped. It wasn't too hard since the highway had a 35mph speed limit! On the MT side was a gravel road. Alot of nice scenery but we didn't stop for pics. (also nice are 70 mph highways...)
Here are tons of glacier pics... they are all nice IMO.

Glacier is awesome, almost surreal. The water in that river was such a cool color. Way better in person. There is a narrow winding road that takes you up to Logan Pass visitor's center. From there we hiked up as far as our flip-flops would allow before the snow was too deep.
