: Anybody running a high hp blow through Pro-Charger
69 Ratt Vette Jul 21st, 06, 9:42 AM I am kicking around the idea of building a high hp blow through Pro-Charger motor for my race car. I already have the block work done. It will be a 4.56 x 4.25 (555) I am open to suggestions or experiences. I want to make 1400 hp and do not mind running an intercooler if I have to.
I want to stay with a conventional head, other than that let me hear some ideas.
ProdigyCustoms Jul 21st, 06, 9:57 AM We do a lot of ProChargers. Since it is a race car, I assume you are not worried about pump gas? If Pump gas is no concern we can easlity get you your 1400HP without the need of a intercooler and all the plumbing headaches and additional expense. Now if you wanted to do it on pump gas............
you can call me if you need me, my contact info is on my Prodigy Customs site.

Steve is widely acknowledged as one of the best with Procharged blow-through motors. I have a non-intercooled 1200Hp 540 pump gas combo from him, was able to meet him and watch it on the dyno myself. Steve was VERY friendly and easy to talk to.
Patrick Barnhill is another great resource but I don't have contact info for him.

69 Ratt Vette Jul 21st, 06, 2:16 PM Ya, race gas for sure.
69 Ratt Vette Jul 21st, 06, 2:17 PM Thanks guys, I will look into both of these.
Bomber '67 Jul 21st, 06, 11:04 PM Should be easy to make that power John. Why don't you contact Bob and George Vrbancic at (909) 930- 9980. They are local enough, and they have set up a lot of ProCharger engines. These are the same guys that "found" another 245 horsepower in my ProCharged 468 engine, mostly from tuning, with a few detail changes. This was after a certain S...A...E... shop said the Holly 830 carb was too small. Vrbancic left the carb in place, they actually thought it was the best carb for the application.

69 Ratt Vette Jul 22nd, 06, 3:39 AM Thanks Tom, I have thought about contacting them and talking to you as well.
66rat Jul 22nd, 06, 4:47 AM If this is a race only deal, put an alcohol carb on it and hold on. And with alcohol there is absolutely no need for an intercooler. Patrick Barnhill has this set-up and has run 7's at 3200 pounds with a 356 small block. If I remember right, I think he told me he was getting 1500 to the tires. If you want his phone number PM me.
I agree with Thomas, If I had access to the Vrbancic brothers, that would be my first stop. They know Prochargers and make awesome power with them.

I want to stay with a conventional head, other than that let me hear some ideas. How fast do you want to run? With your car only weighing 2200 lbs. you shouldn't need 1400 H.P. to go faster than you are ready for. My calculator shows it only takes 1060 H.P. to get your car to mid sevens. A Procharger on a small block will easily exceed that at under 20 lbs. boost so no telling what yours will be capable of on that big block. A Mustang racer changed over to a F2 this past winter and has already gone 8.00 @ 179 MPH and his car is about 3000 lbs. His best nitrous pass here at Tulsa was a 8.20 @ 167 or thereabouts. Isn't you cage only certified to 7.50?

1200HP...........Hummm, you wouldn't be sand bagging a couple hundred on us now would ya Dave?:):D
69 Ratt Vette Jul 22nd, 06, 11:12 AM My car is certified to 7.5, but I want to be able to run that at any track I go to. Talking to guys with a cars like mine most need 1300 hp or so to get into the 7.50's.
Alcohol ?? I would rather do it with gasoline, but would consider alcohol. It would sure make more power than the gas would (with no intercooler) I guess all I would have to do is redo the fuel system. I will need a new fuel pump which ever direction I go anyway.
Thanks guys.....hmmmm maybe I should push this to 1500 hp to make it a nice round figure !!!
69 Ratt Vette Jul 22nd, 06, 11:13 AM Tom, SAE will never see this motor. You going racing anytime soon ?? I am thinking about going to Irwindale on Thursday...it is just so darn hot.
Bomber '67 Jul 22nd, 06, 10:14 PM John,
I'm a spectator for a while, too many other things keeping me busy. I'll be at Bonneville for Speed Week 2006 starting August 12th, maybe doing some filming near the flying mile marker.
I went to Irwindale, there were some cool cars running. A super comp(?) dragster laid down a couple of 4.75 e.t.'s. while only doing 141 mph. There were a couple of cars in the 5.6x's. I think Bob Williams was the announcer, so it was fun to listen to his calling of the race results and humor about which cars would be for sale after their weak showing at Irwindale :)

I don't think of it as sand bagging Rob, more like.... sneaking up on it. Besides, I can't remember, did we limit ourselves to pump gas when we finally get together for a race or can we play with good gas? Jeez I need to finish this thing so I can get to testing. How's yours coming?

Yeah right.......sneaky ;)
Oh we will definetly be on good gas, no sense on going out there and blowing the rods out of it. Now, if memory serves me right, I get 2 car links and the leave,,,,,,right? :D
I didn't touch my car for a whole week, it about killed me. I was working on another buds car getting some paint work done. You know the deal, have paint booth, they will come. I'm back on it today.
