Just trying to find out the correct color for my 69 ss grill. From what I understand the ss cars came with a black painted grill and the malibu's had the fins painted silver. Can anyone verify that for me?

You are fairly accurate on your assumption. SS grills were black, but did have the center extruding part argent silver. Same holds true for the grill extensions.
