I'm working on a 1992 GMC Sierra 1500 with a 4.3L and a manual transmission. I need to bleed the hydraulic clutch system. I found the clutch slave cylinder and the bleed valve, now i just need to know the steps! Do i bleed it like a brake system or do i do something else? Engine running? Thanks guys!

Hi. OK.. did this with two cars. a Eagle Talon, Miata...... Two people,,, Remove cover from clutch fluid container.. top it off... From under the car you will find a nipple from the area where the clutch is.. Now same as brakes.. Place a small hose on the nipple, first loosen the locking nut place tube in a plastic see through container submerging the open end of the hose,in the brake or clutch fluid, they are the same,,,,,now loosen the locking nut at the nipple w/ the hose on it,,,,,,,, the person in the car now pumps the clutch pedal while you allow the air and fluid to run into the bottle.. You will see it comming out.then hold the clutch to the floor. You tighten the nut under the car..he lifts off the pedal.. Repeat till no air......... Tighten all, I even left my hose,,no not that hose,, attached to the nipple...... Now just keep your resoivoir full. hope this helps. I found this oin line.a DSM forum, search on clutch bleeding.... try this, get an oil squirt can, the one you pump, fill in with brake fluid and attach above mentioned hose to it and to bleeder on slave cylinder. remove cap from clutch M/C and add some fluid there too, do not fill it. Have someone observe the M/C while you open the bleeder and pump the fluid up to the M/C from the slave cyl, pump til the M/C is full and close the bleeder and give the pedal a try, if it works, you are done, if not, more pumping is in order. Hope this helps.

Ok, i made a mistake, i jumped to a conclusion! I looked under the truck briefly (still in my work clothes so i didn't crawl underneath it.) I did see the slave cylinder but it doesn't have a bleeder valve on it. All it has is an allen-head screw in it. Any ideas?
