My '69 SS Chevelle was built the 5th week of Nov.'68.

Would a Oct. J or Nov. I block be correct? Assemble front pad date?

Bought a Complete L88 built March 512 block 427 with 074 heads..for fun.

The guy has a J and I block he can build for me instead.

I would never sell the car as #'s match...would be nice to have #'s correct though.

Thoughts...Comments Appreciated.

look for a block cast approx 3-4 weeks prior to your cars build date per cowl tag. many exceptions to the 3-4 week thing, but that is the most common IMO. i've heard of blocks cast about the same week as the car's build date and blocks cast several months prior, both with owners that swear they're correct and not restamped.

Anymore Input Anybody?

I = September, so the J (October) block (best choice of the two) would be acceptable for a late November car, but a mid K block (November) would be better. Don't bother restamping an assembly date although a few days after the casting date is normal.
